Oura Ring 5 — Advanced Review
The first smart ring that vanishes on your finger without giving up the best health tracking in the category.
The verdict
The Ring 5 earns its score because the one complaint that kept people off smart rings — bulk — is gone: at 2.8mm thick and 40% smaller than the Ring 4, reviewers say it completely disappears on the finger and call it the wearable to beat this year. Independent verdicts converge on the same point — thinner, lighter, better, and the easiest smart ring to recommend so far, while the sleep tracking that made Oura the category benchmark carries over intact. Expert testers who wore it for weeks rank it the best smart ring on the market while honestly noting that Ring 4 owners gain little by rushing to upgrade. The membership requirement remains the structural criticism: the full insight layer costs $5.99 a month on top of the hardware.
Rated by category
- Comfort & Design. 2.8mm thin and dramatically lighter; reviewers consistently forget they're wearing it — the category's old dealbreaker, solved.
- Health Tracking. Sleep, readiness, and HRV tracking remain the consumer benchmark, now with 50+ metrics.
- Battery Life. Roughly a week per charge in early testing — impressive given the 40% smaller body.
- Value & Subscription. Hardware is fairly priced for what it does, but the mandatory membership keeps total cost of ownership climbing.
What reviewers praise
- 40% smaller — finally looks like a normal ring
- category-leading sleep and recovery tracking
- about a week of battery despite the shrink
- polished, genuinely useful app
Worth knowing
- $5.99/month membership required for full insights
- premium finishes cost $100 more with no upgrade discount
Price and value
$399 for base finishes ($499 in gold or stealth) plus $69.99 a year in membership is a real commitment — but it buys the most refined health wearable that doesn't live on your wrist, and reviewers judge the package worth it for sleep-focused users.
How it compares
Samsung's Galaxy Ring skips the subscription but delivers shallower insights and Android-only support; RingConn undercuts it on price without matching the app's depth — the Ring 5 stays the definitive pick if tracking quality is the priority.
The bottom line
The first smart ring that vanishes on your finger without giving up the best health tracking in the category.
How this review works
This isn't one editor's opinion. MyBase's Advanced Review is our own AI-synthesized editorial assessment: it draws on the published verdicts of the industry's most trusted independent expert reviewers and testing publications, alongside large pools of verified-owner reviews, and weighs them together into a single clear verdict. Expert testing is weighed alongside real-world owner consensus, so the rating reflects how a product actually performs — not how it's marketed.
