Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV97 — Advanced Review
The pick for the speed-focused shaver who wants a close result in as few passes as possible.
The verdict
The Arc5 is the perennial counterpoint to Braun at the top of electric-shaver testing, and its rating reflects how reliably it delivers a fast, close shave thanks to its five precision-honed blades and high-RPM linear motor. Reviewers consistently single out its speed and efficiency, cutting through stubble in fewer strokes than most rivals, while the responsive shaving sensor adjusts power to beard density. Owner reviews across a large sample praise the quick results and the flexible pivoting head, though many note the shave reads as efficient and slightly more aggressive rather than the gentlest available. It's a top recommendation for people who prioritize a quick, thorough shave over a leisurely one.

- Closeness & Speed. Five nanotech blades and a fast ~14,000 CPM linear motor deliver a very close shave quickly, ideal for thick beards.
- Comfort. Efficient but a touch more aggressive than Braun; some users report slight irritation on the neck.
- Battery & Cleaning. Strong runtime with LCD, wet/dry use, and an included clean-and-charge station that's cheaper to maintain than Braun's.
- Value. Frequently priced below the comparable Braun flagship, making it the better-value performance foil shaver.

How this review works
This isn't one editor's opinion. MyBase's Advanced Review is our own AI-synthesized editorial assessment: it draws on the published verdicts of the industry's most trusted independent expert reviewers and testing publications, alongside large pools of verified-owner reviews, and weighs them together into a single clear verdict. Expert testing is weighed alongside real-world owner consensus, so the rating reflects how a product actually performs — not how it's marketed.
