Breville Bambino Plus — Advanced Review
The small-kitchen pick for great espresso and easy lattes on a budget, if you already have a grinder.
The verdict
The Bambino Plus earns its 4.5 as the value champion of entry-level espresso: a remarkably compact machine that punches far above its size on shot quality and milk texturing. Independent reviewers both highlight its near-instant ThermoJet heat-up and automatic steam wand, which produces genuinely good microfoam with little skill — rare at this price and footprint. Across a very large owner-review pool owners consistently praise the café-quality results from such a small counter footprint, pairing it with a separate grinder. It falls just short of the top tier because it has no built-in grinder and a small water tank that needs frequent refilling.
Rated by category
- Espresso Quality. Fast 3-second heat-up and 54mm portafilter pull surprisingly good shots for the size.
- Milk Frothing. Automatic steam wand with temperature and texture control is excellent for a compact machine.
- Footprint. One of the smallest capable espresso machines, ideal for tight kitchens.
- Value. Near-Barista quality without a grinder at a much lower price is a smart entry buy.

Price and value
Around 500 USD, it's great value as the most affordable way into genuine Breville espresso, though you'll need a separate grinder to get the best from it.
How it compares
It's the pick for small kitchens and budget-minded starters, beating the Barista Express on footprint and price, though the Express wins by bundling a grinder and the Gaggia Classic wins on manual control and repairability.
The bottom line
The small-kitchen pick for great espresso and easy lattes on a budget, if you already have a grinder.
How this review works
This isn't one editor's opinion. MyBase's Advanced Review is our own AI-synthesized editorial assessment: it draws on the published verdicts of the industry's most trusted independent expert reviewers and testing publications, alongside large pools of verified-owner reviews, and weighs them together into a single clear verdict. Expert testing is weighed alongside real-world owner consensus, so the rating reflects how a product actually performs — not how it's marketed.
