Dell XPS 14 (2026) — Advanced Review
The Windows laptop to buy if you want Mac-like build quality and a stellar screen and prefer Windows.
The verdict
The Dell XPS 14 (2026) earns a strong score as the leading premium Windows alternative, praised for a genuinely high-end chassis and one of the best displays in its class. Independent testing labs and lab-grade testing highlight its bright, color-accurate OLED option, solid CPU/GPU performance for creative work, and a refined machined-aluminum build that reviewers rate among the most premium in Windows laptops. It lands a notch below the best Macs largely because reviewers consistently flag shorter battery life, more fan noise under load, and the polarizing capacitive function row and haptic touchpad. Owner reviews skew positive on looks and screen, with the same caveats keeping it from a top-tier rating.
Rated by category
- Design & Build. Reborn Panther Lake redesign with premium CNC chassis and an excellent 8MP/4K Windows Hello webcam.
- Battery Life. 20+ hours on the 1200p panel, a standout return to form and rare for a powerful Windows 14-incher.
- Keyboard & Input. Divisive zero-lattice deck; stability improved but the ultra-shallow keys and capacitive row still put people off.
- Value. Strong hardware, but $1,600 base (and $2,200 as reviewed) is steep against cheaper Windows alternatives.
What reviewers praise
- premium machined-aluminum build
- excellent OLED display option
- strong creative-task performance
- compact, portable footprint
Worth knowing
- battery life and fan noise trail rivals
- divisive haptic touchpad and capacitive function row
Price and value
At a $1,599 starting price it's a premium buy, and largely worth it for the build, battery and display — though the as-reviewed ~$2,200 config pushes it into MacBook Pro territory where it's outmatched on efficiency.
How it compares
It's the best-built Windows 14-inch flagship, beating the Lenovo Yoga 9i and HP Spectre on chassis quality and webcam; but it can't match the MacBook Pro 14 on battery-per-watt or the polarizing keyboard of the XPS itself.
The bottom line
The Windows laptop to buy if you want Mac-like build quality and a stellar screen and prefer Windows.
How this review works
This isn't one editor's opinion. MyBase's Advanced Review is our own AI-synthesized editorial assessment: it draws on the published verdicts of the industry's most trusted independent expert reviewers and testing publications, alongside large pools of verified-owner reviews, and weighs them together into a single clear verdict. Expert testing is weighed alongside real-world owner consensus, so the rating reflects how a product actually performs — not how it's marketed.
