B&O Beosound A9 — Advanced Review
A design-icon wireless speaker for buyers who want statement looks and big sound in one piece.
The verdict
The Beosound A9 commands its top-tier rating because reviewers treat it as a rare object where industrial design and audio performance are equally celebrated: the iconic circular form is a recurring design-award reference, while listening tests credit it with room-filling, well-balanced sound and genuinely powerful bass for a one-piece speaker. Hi-fi outlets and verified owners agree it performs as a statement centerpiece, with adjustable room-position settings and multiroom support adding practical flexibility. The few critiques focus almost entirely on price and the fact that dedicated component systems can out-resolve it for pure audiophiles. As a design-led lifestyle speaker, expert and owner praise are strongly aligned.

- Sound Quality. Big, room-filling, warm sound with strong bass; a true design-speaker that also performs.
- Design & Build. Iconic circular sculpture with swappable legs and fabric covers; genuine furniture-grade object.
- Features & Streaming. AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect; B&O app and multiroom are less polished than rivals.
- Value. Sound is excellent but the price reflects the design statement far more than the acoustics.

Price and value
At roughly $3,000+ the Beosound A9 (5th gen) is priced as a design centerpiece; it sounds great, but a large share of the cost is the sculptural form and B&O badge.
How it compares
Nothing matches it as a statement piece, but purely for sound-per-dollar a Sonos Five or KEF LSX II delivers comparable or better audio for a fraction of the price.
The bottom line
A design-icon wireless speaker for buyers who want statement looks and big sound in one piece.
How this review works
This isn't one editor's opinion. MyBase's Advanced Review is our own AI-synthesized editorial assessment: it draws on the published verdicts of the industry's most trusted independent expert reviewers and testing publications, alongside large pools of verified-owner reviews, and weighs them together into a single clear verdict.
