Sony WH-1000XM6 — Advanced Review
The default recommendation for anyone who wants the quietest, most polished do-everything travel headphone.
The verdict
The XM6 is the consensus pick at the top of the wireless over-ear category, with the major independent review labs all converging on near-perfect marks. Lab measurements credit it with class-leading active noise cancellation and a refined, easily tuned sound signature, while the testing labs' rig-based testing highlights excellent call quality and a well-implemented adjustable EQ. Reviewers consistently note Sony tightened the weak spots of prior generations, returning to a folding hinge and improving build without sacrificing the all-day comfort and ~30-hour battery that owners rave about. Expert verdicts and the large verified-owner pool line up almost perfectly, which is why it lands at 4.8.

Price and value
At roughly $450 it is the most expensive it has ever been, but the class-leading ANC, refined sound, and return of folding make it premium-but-worth-it for frequent travelers.
How it compares
The default over-ear pick that edges out the Bose QuietComfort Ultra on features and app depth; Bose is still marginally more comfortable and Sennheiser lasts far longer per charge.

The default recommendation for anyone who wants the quietest, most polished do-everything travel headphone.
How this review works
This isn't one editor's opinion. MyBase's Advanced Review is our own AI-synthesized editorial assessment: it draws on the published verdicts of the industry's most trusted independent expert reviewers and testing publications, alongside large pools of verified-owner reviews, and weighs them together into a single clear verdict. Expert testing is weighed alongside real-world owner consensus, so the rating reflects how a product actually performs — not how it's marketed.
