Bose QuietComfort Ultra — Advanced Review
The pick for travelers and commuters who want the quietest, most comfortable over-ear headphones available.
The verdict
The QuietComfort Ultra scores high because Bose's noise cancellation remains a measured class leader — independent testing labs and major audio outlets repeatedly rank its ANC at or near the top for taming low-frequency rumble and broadband noise. Reviewers also praise its plush, lightweight comfort for long wear and its warm, customizable sound, with the Immersive Audio spatial mode noted as a genuine differentiator over rivals. Owner reviews reinforce the comfort and quiet, aligning closely with expert testing. The score lands just shy of perfect mainly on value and battery considerations versus key competitors.
Rated by category
- Noise Cancelling. Class-leading ANC; reviewers consistently rate it a hair above the Sony XM5 for silencing low-end drone.
- Sound. Rich, full-bodied, bass-forward tuning with Immersive Audio; slightly less detailed than Sony but very likeable.
- Comfort. Longtime Bose strength: light clamp and plush pads that stay comfortable for hours, plus a folding travel design.
- Value. Top-tier performance, but shorter battery life and thinner features than rivals dent the score at the price.

The newer answer
Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen). Battery life rises from 24 to 30 hours with ANC on (45 hours ANC off), fixing the 'battery life trails some rivals' watch-out.
Same premium $449 flagship price, so the price watch-out remains untouched.
Price and value
At about $429 (often discounted toward $379) it sits at the top of the mainstream ANC market; the best-in-class silence and comfort justify the premium, though it costs more than the Sony while giving up battery and call quality.
How it compares
It's the pick for travelers who prioritize pure noise cancelling and comfort, edging the Sony WH-1000XM5 on ANC and portability while the Sony wins on battery life, call quality and price.
The bottom line
The pick for travelers and commuters who want the quietest, most comfortable over-ear headphones available.
How this review works
This isn't one editor's opinion. MyBase's Advanced Review is our own AI-synthesized editorial assessment: it draws on the published verdicts of the industry's most trusted independent expert reviewers and testing publications, alongside large pools of verified-owner reviews, and weighs them together into a single clear verdict. Expert testing is weighed alongside real-world owner consensus, so the rating reflects how a product actually performs — not how it's marketed.
